Bill O’Brien Yelled at Tom Brady and Is Now Penn State’s Coach

Want me to let you in on a little secret? Many of the big time people running college athletic programs don’t have any more of a clue than me or you. You honestly think anyone at Penn State had heard of Bill O’Brien a month ago? No way. Not a chance. But dude throws a hissy fit on league MVP Tom Brady after an interception against the Redskins in Week 14, and all of a sudden he becomes a head coaching candidate. Go figure.

That brings me to another point: When are folks going to learn that it’s Tom Brady who makes the Pats’ offensive coordinators look good, not the other way around? How great have Josh McDaniels and Charlie Weis been without Brady? Yet this dude is a hot candidate because he freaked out on Tom on the sidelines? Really? Is that all it takes to get a coaching job these days? Shoot, I’ll pick a fight with Tommy Boy if that’s what it means.

You’re also lucky I chose this angle for the story. I really don’t think Penn State is in any position to be searching for new head coaches. If there was a cover-up of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse occurring within the school, football program, and state, they shouldn’t have a football team.
