Did Bret Bielema do disrespectful ‘Horns Down’ gesture? (Video)

The internet was consumed Saturday with questions about whether Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema did the “Horns Down” gesture while shaking hands with Texas’ Charlie Strong.

The two coaches shook hands Saturday ahead of Monday’s Advocare V100 Texas Bowl between the programs. Some photographs began circulating of Bielema appearing to do the gesture while shaking hands with Strong, almost like someone shaking hands on a bet while crossing their fingers behind their back.

Arkansas host Bo Mattingly reported that Bielema denied doing the gesture, which is considered to be a slight at Texas fans, who show unity by throwing up the hand sign.

After the denial, people on the internet investigated whether or not the image had been Photoshopped to make Bielema look bad. Unfortunately for those defending Bielema, video later emerged showing that he did, in fact, contort his hands in the “Horns Down” shape, whether it was intentional or not.

When it comes to college football hand gestures, Bielema should just stick to throwing up the “A” like his wife.
