Brett Hundley reportedly wants to leave UCLA for NFL draft

Brett HundleyBrett Hundley is weighing whether he wants to return to UCLA for his junior season or leave school for the NFL draft, and it sounds like he wants to go pro.

On Friday, Draft Insider’s Tony Pauline wrote the following about Hundley:

Numerous sources tell me Hundley wants to enter the draft but all the feedback he’s receiving has recommended he return for another season. I’m told those close to Hundley will advise him to stay in school another season and the program is working hard to re-recruit their signal caller.

Like Johnny Manziel, Hundley is a redshirt sophomore and therefore eligible for the draft. He has been listed as one of the top prospects for the 2015 draft, whereas many are projecting him as a second-round pick now.

I may seem biased since I’m a UCLA fan, but I honestly believe it would be best for Hundley to return to school. Marcus Mariota is better than Hundley and he elected to come back for more seasoning. There is no doubt Hundley could use the same.

While he looked great against USC, Hundley was very inconsistent throughout the season and has a lot of room for improvement. I think it would work wonders for his game to return to school, lead UCLA for another season, get more reps, and further build his confidence. I think that would help his pro prospects a lot more and could even help him get drafted higher. With the exception of the risk of injury, I don’t see one reason why Hundley should leave for the pros now.

And after reading this report, it makes a lot of sense why Jim Mora was trying to convince Hundley to announce he was returning to school after beating USC.
