Brett Hundley reportedly returning to UCLA for junior season

Brett Hundley UCLA

Great news, UCLA fans. It looks like Brett Hundley will be returning to school for his junior season.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Sunday that Hundley will come back to school. Schefter incorrectly said that Hundley would be returning for his senior season when it will actually be Hundley’s junior year. Hundley is draft-eligible because he redshirted his first year out of high school. Players are eligible for the NFL draft when their high school class is three years past graduation.

UCLA has called a press conference for Monday morning, where Hundley is expected to make his announcement.

Hundley had been weighing entering the NFL draft, and a report said he wanted to go pro. Hundley’s draft status received a huge boost with his spectacular performance in UCLA’s 42-14 Sun Bowl win over Virginia Tech. He threw for 226 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 161 yards and two TDs.

Hundley may have been a first-round pick, but there was a lot of quarterback competition this year with Teddy Bridgewater entering the draft, and Johnny Manziel and Blake Bortles likely doing the same. Hundley may be able to sharpen his skills by returning next season.

If Hundley returns to UCLA, he will join coach Jim Mora in turning down great offers to come back to Westwood. Mora turned down the Washington and Texas jobs.
