BYU recruit Charles West shot in arm (Video)

BYU running back recruit Charles West was shot in the arm in broad daylight outside of a Texas middle school on Sunday, and the shooting was allegedly captured on camera.

A video that was passed along by D Magazine claims to show West, 18, running away from the assailant while being shot at. You can see that the man wielding the gun jumped out of the back of an SUV and fired six shots.

West fled the scene on foot and eventually knocked on a person’s door to seek help. He was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for a wound in his upper arm.

Police reportedly took a suspect into custody on Monday afternoon after West identified him in a photo lineup. The suspect’s identity has not been released, as the investigation is ongoing.

As WFAA in Dallas notes, West was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of marijuana back in January. An arrest warrant states that he solicited sex from a prostitute who advertised services including “foot fetish and dominatrix activities.” The alleged victim claims West sexually assaulted her and held a knife to her throat.
