Cardale Jones pulls Twitter prank, says he is transferring to Akron

Cardale Jones

Cardale Jones had Ohio State fans hyperventilating for a few minutes on Friday after pulling a Twitter prank.

Jones, who took over as starting quarterback of the Buckeyes for the Big Ten Championship game and led the team to the national championship, tweeted that he was transferring to Akron:

Jones let the joke run for all of eight minutes before reassuring fans he wasn’t going anywhere.

Buckeyes fans were understandably upset with him for toying with them, and he responded.

Jones is competing with Braxton Miller and J.T. Barrett for the starting quarterback job, so many have expected one of the three to transfer. Most of the rumors have centered around Miller, not Jones or Barrett. Jones loves Ohio State so much that he delayed his entrance to the school by a year just so he would have a class separation from Miller, who graduated from high school the same year. We would never expect him to transfer.

But between this and what happened in January, people should know by now that Cardale is just a practical joker. Let’s also not forget that he has a track record of sending extremely questionable tweets; be wary of what he does and says online.
