Charlie Strong takes Longhorn logo off Texas helmets

Charlie Strong Texas Hook 'em

Charlie Strong is so old school that it is kind of annoying.

Strong has committed to changing the Texas football culture in the wake of Mack Brown’s departure, and that has resulted in him doing stuff like making his players wear solid white helmets during practice.

According to Anwar Richardson of OrangeBloods.com, Strong has removed the Longhorns logos from all of the Texas players’ helmets and is making them earn the logo back. Here’s what the helmets look like at the moment:

If you recall, Strong also told his players a few months ago that they are not allowed to flash the “Hook ’em Horns” sign until they earn the right to do so. In other words, he wants all members of the team to know they are not actually a member of the team until he says they are.

Strong also announced at the start of training camp over the weekend that three potential starters will miss at least one game due to a violation of team rules and that several others players have been dismissed.

“You have 85 guys on scholarship. If 80 of them are doing it the right way, why can’t the rest of them do it the right way?” Strong said. “They knew the first day I took the job, when I laid out the core values in that first team meeting, what the program is all about.”

Does this guy mean business or what?
