Everett Golson expected to transfer to Florida State

Everett Golson

Everett Golson is expected to announce his transfer decision Monday, and a report says he is leaning towards attending Florida State.

The Palm Beach Post’s Tom D’Angelo reported Friday that Golson, who is set to graduate from Notre Dame Sunday, could be leaning towards transferring to FSU. The quarterback is reportedly expected to announce his decision Monday.

Golson will be a graduate transfer and has been checking out various schools recently, including FSU, Florida and Georgia this week.

FSU makes the most sense for him because of their void since Jameis Winston left for the NFL and because the ACC does not have the same restrictions as the SEC. As we previously explained, the SEC has rules in place that would make it very difficult for a player like Golson to be granted a transfer waiver given that he only has one year of eligibility left and his previous school offers the same sport.

Earlier this week 247 Sports reported that FSU was the favorite to land Golson. If Golson does transfer to FSU, he would be competing with several other scholarship quarterbacks for the starting job, including Sean Maguire, who was the QB during the team’s spring game.

Golson had serious turnover issues last season for Notre Dame and was eventually benched by the end of the season.
