Everett Golson not transferring to Riverside CC, says Riverside coach

Everett GolsonEverett Golson is not transferring to Riverside Community College to play football, the program’s coach told the Riverside Press-Enterprise.

The rumor of Golson, who was dismissed from Notre Dame for the year because of an academic violation, heading to Riverside began when Brad Hoiseth of JCGridiron.com tweeted that Golson was on the RCC campus during the week. Hoiseth’s tweet could have meant many different things, but the obvious implication is that he is interested in transferring there.

Whatever the case, RCC coach Tom Craft denied that Golson is headed to Riverside.

“I don’t know who’s putting that out there but it’s not real, that’s false,” Craft told The Press-Enterprise. “There’s nothing to that at all. That has as much truth to it as Tom Brady’s going to be our quarterback. It’s just not even close.”

Part of the speculation that Golson was interested in a Southern California school such as Riverside CC is that he supposedly has a girlfriend who attends USC.

Notre Dame has left open the possibility for Golson to return to the school for the 2014 season, and the redshirt sophomore quarterback said he intends to do so.

Craft has a strong reputation as one of the best junior college coaches in the country. His successful career at Palomar College helped him get the San Diego State job, where he went just 19-29 in four seasons, leading to his return to the JC game.
