Nebraska’s Jack Gangwish bit by raccoon while taking selfie with it

Jack-Gangwish-raccoon

Nebraska defensive end Jack Gangwish was bit by a raccoon on Wednesday night, but you do not need to feel sorry for him. In fact, we wouldn’t blame you if you were angry at him.

Gangwish was driving along in his car when he spotted a raccoon on the side of the road. For whatever reason, the 21-year-old thought it would be cool to take a selfie with the critter. As you can see, Gangwish got the photo. He also got a nice puncture in his leg.

Gangwish joked about the incident on Thursday with Jonathan Edwards of the Lincoln Journal Star.

“It was a raccoon selfie gone completely wrong,” he said while laughing.

Gangwish also revealed that he killed the animal with a wrench. He said he knew it should be tested for rabies after it bit him, so he was simply trying to subdue it.

“It was death by crescent wrench,” the defensive end said.

Gangwish said authorities have taken the raccoon’s body to test it for rabies. He also made a rabies joke on Twitter.

WTF? This has to be a hoax, right? How could you ever get that close to a raccoon that it would allow you to take a selfie of it? And how did Gangwish just happen to have a crescent wrench handy to kill the raccoon with before it ran away? Did it hang around to attack him for long enough that he had time to reach into his car and grab a wrench?

Something — or everything — doesn’t add up here.
