Jameis Winston reportedly will enter NFL draft after season

Jameis WinstonHere’s one that is sure to shock you: Jameis Winston reportedly plans to leave Florida State to enter the NFL draft after the season.

CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reports that Winston is likely to leave school for the draft even though the redshirt sophomore quarterback enjoys college. Apparently everything that has gone on the past few weeks has convinced him to leave.

From La Canfora:

These same sources said a few weeks back that Winston was torn as to his future, pointing to how much he loved playing football and baseball in college, and at that time they suggested that only if the team was still undefeated deep into the season and Winston having a superb season would he leave. Now, however, in the face of the multiple investigations into him, and what has become an adversarial relationship with school officials (excluding coach Jimbo Fisher and key members of the athletic department) it is virtually certain Winston is declaring no matter what happens in the second half of the season.

This should be expected. Winston has become this year’s Johnny Manziel in terms of attracting national attention for controversies. The difference is the things Winston has done — being accused of sexual assault and being suspended a game for yelling obscenities around campus — are much worse than anything Manziel did. Then when you add in the autograph controversy, it’s become just too much.

We all know Jimbo Fisher loves Winston and repeatedly defends him, but La Canfora says the rest of the school’s officials seems to be sick of the Heisman Trophy winner. They’re probably pressuring him to be pushed out just the way Manziel was.
