Jameis Winston gave Florida State halftime pep talk (Video)
Jameis Winston was on the Florida State sideline for his alma mater’s game against Ole Miss on Monday night, and he may have helped wake the Seminoles up at halftime.
In a video that was captured by Showtime Sports, Winston was shown lecturing the Florida State players and urging them to “wake up.” FSU was trailing 28-13 at the time and looked destined to begin the season 0-1.
“We some dogs, we ain’t no puppies,” a seemingly disgusted Winston said. “Wide receivers, y’all cannot be stopped the whole game. We got the best running back in the whole damn league, and we got a quarterback that’s gonna toss that thing. O-line, wake up! … Get right — wake up, man.”
Perhaps Winston’s speech wasn’t the reason the Seminoles came back to win, but it certainly didn’t hurt. Despite Dalvin Cook inexplicably fumbling the ball before scoring a touchdown (video here), Florida State outscored Ole Miss 32-6 in the second half and completed the comeback to win by a score of 45-34.
Unfortunately, Winston will have to return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before FSU’s next game. It seems like his former team could really use him as a hype guy going forward.
