Ohio State TE Jeff Heuerman wearing No. 5 to honor Braxton Miller

Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller will miss the entire 2014 season after having surgery to repair a torn labrum. Not having Miller, who was a Heisman Trophy favorite, will be an incredible obstacle for the Buckeyes to overcome. Senior tight end Jeff Heuerman is hoping Miller’s No. 5 can still bring the team some good fortune.

Heuerman, who has worn No. 86 throughout his Ohio State career, is wearing No. 5 in honor of Miller in the team’s season opener against Navy on Saturday.

“Only right that part of him stays on the field with us @BraxtonMiller5,” Heuerman wrote on Twitter before Saturday’s game.

We doubt Heuerman will have the same type of impact the other No. 5 would have had, but it’s a nice gesture that I’m sure Miller appreciates.
