Jim Harbaugh: Tom Brady is ‘the greatest football player to ever play’

Tom Brady

Tom Brady is widely considered to be one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, and Jim Harbaugh feels that is not enough.

Believe it or not, Harbaugh actually thinks Brady is underrated.

“Unbelievable, I don’t think he gets the credit due to him,” Harbaugh told reporters on Wednesday when asked about Brady, via Mark Snyder of The Detroit Free Press. “He’s not getting that. That’s his due. He doesn’t quite get it the way he should. I’m looking forward to watching him play.”

Harbaugh and Brady both played quarterback at Michigan, and Brady has visited with the program on more than one occasion since Harbaugh took over. Brady could become the first quarterback ever to win five Super Bowls if he can help his team knock off the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, but Harbaugh thinks the 39-year-old’s legacy is cemented regardless of the outcome.

“Tom Brady is the greatest football player to ever play,” Harbaugh said. “When you can play that good, that consistently great year after year after year, game after game after game, nobody’s ever done it. Nobody’s ever done it like Tom Brady has. He’s the best of all-time.”

Are Harbaugh and Brady buddies who have played catch together before a game? Sure, but that doesn’t mean Harbaugh’s opinion is biased. If Brady wins a fifth Super Bowl and keeps playing, he’ll only continue to separate himself from the rest of the pack.
