Jim McElwain feels bad for Kentucky after close game
Florida head coach Jim McElwain was quite emotional after his Gators squeaked out a 28-27 win over Kentucky on Saturday night.
Florida did not lead until the final minute of the game, and they had to overcome a 27-14 deficit. They also were in danger of blowing the game at the end, but they prevailed.
Knowing how close to victory Kentucky was, and how much it would have meant to the Wildcats, McElwain showed some sympathy for his opponent.
“I feel bad for these guys. They played their tails off and probably had a chance to win it,” McElwain said in his postgame interview on SEC Network.
What made the loss even more painful for Kentucky is that they’ve now lost 31 in a row to Florida. That statistic clearly was not lost on McElwain.
