Joe Mixon punch video released

Joe Mixon

Video from the infamous knockout punch Joe Mixon delivered to a woman at a campus eatery in 2014 has finally been released.

Mixon, a star running back for Oklahoma, was suspended for the 2014 season because of the assault he committed on the woman, Amelia Molitor. He returned to the team and played a high level both last season and especially this season.

The video shows the running back walking into Pickleman’s restaurant early in the morning on July 24, 2014 and getting into a dispute with Molitor. Molitor shoves him, he pushes back, she slaps him, and then he pops her with a punch that knocks her out.

Mixon was charged with assault and got probation. He is being sued by Molitor, who suffered broken bones in her face as a result of the punch.

“Mr. Mixon asked us to once again say he is sorry for the way he reacted that night. He has apologized publicly to Ms. Molitor, her friends, his family, teammates and the University,” his attorney, Blake Johnson, wrote in a letter. “He hopes that his voluntary release of these recordings will help put this matter to rest.”

Mixon also got into trouble this season and was suspended a game for an incident with a parking attendant.
