Kentucky only had 10 players on field for game-losing touchdown

Kentucky Florida 10 players

If you’re wondering how a program can end up losing 31 straight games to an opponent, look no further than this.

Kentucky had the biggest of blunders during the most critical play of their game against Florida on Saturday evening. The Wildcats were leading 27-21 with under a minute to go, and Florida had the ball at the five facing a 3rd and 1 situation.

Luke Del Rio ended up throwing a touchdown pass to a wide open Freddie Swain. Well how did Swain get so open? He was left unguarded by Kentucky, which only had 10 players on the field.

That’s about as bad as it gets. It’s an embarrassment to be that disorganized with the game on the line. How do you leave a player completely open like that?

Even after giving up the TD, Kentucky still gave itself a chance at the win with a nice drive. But a holding penalty took them out of reasonable field goal range, and they lost 28-27. What a gut punch, especially in a game where they led until the final minute.
