Kentucky LB disappointed over Senior Day fan support

The Kentucky Wildcats are in the top 25 and now sit 8-3 after their win on Senior Day, but the crowd wasn’t big enough for one player’s liking.

The crowd was somewhat sparse, at least during the coin toss, with empty seats visible in the stadium.

Linebacker Kash Daniel was upset after the game, feeling that one of the most successful senior classes in decades deserved a better send-off.

“I’m really disappointed,” Daniel said, via Curtis Burch of WLAP. “That stadium should have been filled out to the max. You’ve got a ranked team, first eight-wins in the regular season since the ’80s. You got to see Josh Allen break a sack record here. And look at this, Nebraska, who’s a football powerhouse, wins national championships, still sold out 80,000-plus when they went 0-5. We’re bowl-eligible for the past three years in a row. And on Senior Day, this is the class that turned Kentucky football around.

“I understand if the weather was too cold or whatever, maybe you couldn’t get a ride here, didn’t have the funds to do it, I understand that. But if you could be here and support them and say that you’re behind us thick and thin … these seniors deserve to go out with a full crowd. And the people that were here, I thank every single one of you.”

After Daniel’s comments spread across social media, he tweeted the entire interview for context, stating that he was simply sticking up for his teammates.

Daniel made headlines early in the season for his pretty blunt comments after a rivalry win. He’s not a guy who holds back, even when it comes to the fanbase.
