Kirby Smart does not believe in negative recruiting

Kirby Smart

Kirby Smart does not believe that negative recruiting is a good way of trying to attract players.

The Georgia football coach spoke at SEC Spring Meetings and addressed negative recruiting, discussing why it’s not the best approach.

“Negative recruiting, to me, never works on the kind of kids that you want in your program,” Smart said, via Saturday Down South. “Because if they are listening to that and they buy into that, they are probably a little gullible. Where I would much rather be very honest and open because you attract better quality people who respect the fact that you respect the other people in your league.”

What Smart says makes complete sense. It also seems to be working, considering Smart has brought in some top-notch recruits and has many more lined up. He took Georgia to the title game last year and is looking to repeat that success.
