Lamar Jackson misread play on critical fumble
Lamar Jackson made a critical mistake at the end of Louisville’s loss to rival Kentucky on Saturday.
Jackson fumbled when Louisville had a first and goal situation from Kentucky’s 9 with the game tied at 38 with 1:45 left in the game. Kentucky recovered and drove 60 yards for a field goal to take the lead 41-38, which ended up being the final score.

After the game, Cardinals head coach Bobby Petrino said Jackson made the wrong read on the play.
Petrino said Jackson misread play on fumble. Should have handed the ball off.

Even though Jackson made the wrong read and lost the ball, officials actually made the wrong call. The ball should have been called down as the fumble appeared to be caused by the ground. But the fumble recovery was awarded to Kentucky, and the Wildcats won the game.
Some may now question how worthy of the Heisman Jackson is. He threw three interceptions and lost the fumble as Louisville dropped its second straight.
