Leonard Fournette will not play in LSU bowl game
LSU running back Leonard Fournette’s college career is over.
The star back, who has already announced his entry into the NFL Draft, announced Friday that he will not play in the Citrus Bowl.
Fournette has a left ankle injury, and between that and the fact that he is probably not interested in jeopardizing his draft status at this point, he and coach Ed Orgeron came to the decision.
“He has a bright future ahead of himself,” Orgeron said, via Ross Dellenger of the Advocate. “He’ll always be an LSU Tiger.”
Fournette had previously been characterized as “day-to-day” for the bowl game. Obviously, his ankle didn’t get to the place where he needed it to be.
