Maryland gets penalty for refusing to shake hands with Penn State (Video)
Here’s something you probably won’t see again this season — Maryland was penalized 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct on Saturday before their game against Penn State was even underway. The Terps were flagged for refusing to shake hands before the coin toss.
The classless gesture came after the two teams got into a shoving match during pregame warmups.
We don’t know what Maryland and Penn State were fighting about before the game, but snubbing the opponent during the coin toss seems kind of petty. Maryland head coach Randy Edsall apologized after the game.
“I apologize,” he said. “That was not orchestrated or choreographed. … You know what, let the rivalry begin.”
