Montee Ball, Melvin Gordon shocked over Gary Andersen’s departure

Current Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon and former Badgers star RB Montee Ball had a Twitter exchange on Wednesday evening where they expressed shock over the departure of Gary Andersen.

Andersen surprisingly left Wisconsin to take the Oregon State job, meaning the Badgers will be looking for their third head coach since 2012.

The conversation began with Gordon tweeting “wow !!!” in response to Andersen’s move, with Ball tweeting him back.

Ball played at Wisconsin from 2009-2012, so he had Bret Bielema his entire time and didn’t have to go through the coaching change. Gordon is completing his redshirt junior season and has decided to enter the NFL draft. Had he chosen to return to school for his senior season, he would have been on his third head coach.

Here’s what Gordon said to the media of the move:

“I was shocked and didn’t know … I didn’t see it coming,” Gordon said. “It was a shock.”

Gordon leads FBS with 2,336 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns.
