Nebraska AD says school is ‘privileged’ to be Big Ten member
Nebraska athletic director Shawn Eichorst sent a tweet on Thursday seemingly in response to a report that the school was not happy in the Big Ten.
Nebraska moved from the Big 12 to the Big Ten in 2011 but has not had significant athletic success since the switch, nor has it reaped a financial windfall yet. A report on Wednesday said the Cornhuskers wanted to rejoin the Big 12, which is looking at reforming as a larger conference.
Here’s what Eichorst said on Thursday:
Proud & privileged to be member of the Big Ten-the oldest & best power 5 athletic conference. Excellence = academics, athletics & life. GBR!

The timing of Eichorst’s tweet does not seem to be coincidental.
The school’s chancellor Ronnie D. Green added a tweet of support.
I second that….. https://t.co/c3yXEN5AcD

Of course, if Nebraska did have some unhappiness in the Big Ten and were looking for a new conference, it would be highly unlikely that they would say so.
