Police investigating rape claim at home of Tommy Armstrong, Jordan Westerkamp

Tommy-Armstrong

Police are investigating a report of a rape that allegedly took place at a home that Nebraska quarterback Tommy Armstrong and wide receiver Jordan Westerkamp are listed as residents of.

A Lincoln police spokesperson told The World-Herald that a 20-year-old woman arrived at a hospital Sunday afternoon and claimed she was sexually assaulted. The accuser says she knows the suspect.

No arrests have been made stemming from the alleged assault, which is said to have occurred in the early morning hours Sunday. Armstrong and Westerkamp, two of Nebraska’s best players, have not been named as suspects — at least publicly.

Armstrong told The World-Herald that he returned home after Nebraska’s game against Rutgers at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning. He said police have spoken to him, Armstrong and a third Huskers player, Trey Foster. After hearing the players’ side of the story, Armstrong says an officer told the three they “should be fine.”

“I don’t know why that person said that,” Armstrong said of the accuser. “We’re confused about the whole situation. From what we’re hearing, everything was consensual.”

The 5-6 Cornhuskers will host No. 5 Iowa on Saturday.
