Scott Frost on defensive meltdown: I don’t call the plays
Nebraska reminded everyone on Saturday why they remain winless on the season.
The Cornhuskers were up 28-14 on Northwestern early in the fourth quarter, up 31-21 with under six minutes to go, and they still lost 34-31 in overtime.
The defensive meltdown included allowing Northwestern to convert two 4th-and-10s on a field goal drive to make it 31-24. It also included allowing Northwestern to go 99 yards for a touchdown to tie the game.
First-year Nebraska head coach Scott Frost was asked after the game if there was anything scheme-wise that he would have done differently at the end of the game. He responded by saying he doesn’t call the plays, and added that all his players needed to do was make one more play, just one play, to end the game.

Some took the comments as Frost deflecting responsibility for the defense’s destruction. Whether he was saying that in a matter-of-fact way or whether he was deflecting, that’s not something fans want to hear.
Nebraska is now 0-6 which marks their worst start ever.
