Terrel Hunt ejected for punching Villanova player in head (Video)

The Syracuse football team got their 2014 season underway with a 27-26 double overtime victory over Villnova on Friday, but for the majority of the game they were without their starting quarterback.

Late in the second quarter, Terrel Hunt was tackled by Joey Harmon during a rushing attempt. On his way to the ground, the senior quarterback was then hit up around his head by Dillon Lucas. Hunt took exception to the second hit and retaliated by punching Lucas in the helmet while both were laying on the ground.

Hunt was assessed a personal foul penalty and subsequently ejected.

While Hunt clearly threw a punch, Syracuse head coach Scott Shafer didn’t feel the ejection was warranted when speaking after the game.

Shafer later backtracked a bit.

Shafer also said there would be no internal discipline for Hunt regarding the play.
