Texas Tech WR Devin Lauderdale has career game in misspelled jersey

Devin-Lauderdale-misspelled-jersey

Texas Tech wide receiver Devin Lauderdale caught three passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns in a loss to West Virginia on Saturday. The two touchdowns were the first of Lauderdale’s career. His best game at Texas Tech was a three-catch, 43-yard performance in the first game of the season. So what was the secret to success? A misspelled jersey, perhaps.

The name on the back of Lauderdale’s jersey was missing a D, so it read “Lauderale.” Either it didn’t bother the sophomore at all or it angered him enough that he decided to have a breakout game.

Believe it or not, we have seen misspelled jerseys many, many times in the past. But I don’t remember many instances where a player had the best game of his life with his name missppelled on his back. Maybe Devin should consider being “Lauderale” for the remainder of the season.
