UCLA punter Adam Searl arrested on suspicion of rape

UCLA punter Adam Searl was arrested Thursday on suspicion of three counts of rape stemming from an incident that took place last year.

According to CBS Los Angeles, Searl was released Thursday night after posting $300,000 bail. The 20-year-old has been accused of raping a woman on Oct. 19, 2014, after she met him outside an off-campus party. The accuser claims Searl accompanied her to a nearby residence, where she fell asleep and later awoke to find him sexually assaulting her.

The LAPD and UCLA campus police conducted a lengthy investigation that resulted in the woman identifying Searl as her alleged attacker. No other details have been made public.

Searl has shared punting duties for UCLA this season, punting five times for an average of 39 yards per kick.
