USC players feel ‘betrayed’ by Steve Sarkisian lawsuit

Steve Sarkisian USC

Steve Sarkisian has already been blasted by USC over the lawsuit he filed against the school, and it would appear he has angered some of his former players with the legal action as well.

TMZ claims to have spoken with multiple Trojan football players who say they feel “betrayed” and “let down” by Sarkisian’s decision to sue USC.

“I felt betrayed,” one player reportedly told TMZ. “He always talked about accountability and now he’s not taking accountability for his actions.”

Sarkisian has filed a wrongful termination suit against USC, claiming that the university fired him when they knew about his alcoholism, which is considered a disability in the state of California. Sarkisian claims in legal documents that a letter proves USC knew about his issues with alcohol, but school officials insist that is a lie.

There were more than three years and $12.6 million remaining on Sarkisian’s deal when he was fired, so it is not a surprise that he is trying to recoup some of that money. USC could settle, but it would seem they have a fairly strong case. After Sark got drunk and embarrassed himself (video here) at a team event over the summer, school officials said they wanted him to seek treatment. Sarkisian responded by reluctantly agreeing to treatment but saying he does not have an issue with alcohol abuse.
