Why Tennessee uses trash can on sidelines
The Tennessee Vols turned heads in their season opener on Monday night for more than their play on the field. It was actually a trash can prop they used on the sidelines that really got the most attention.
The Vols’ trash can is lined with a strip of the orange and white checkerboard. It also says “Team 121” on it, which reflects that this is Tennessee’s 121st football team.
Used as a motivational tool, defensive players are supposed to dunk into the trash can after creating turnovers. The only issue is actually making sure your dunked ball makes it into the trash can:
