Former Harlem Globetrotter Rico Omarr Harris mysteriously goes missing

Rico-Omarr-Harris

Rico Omarr Harris, a 37-year-old who used to play for the Harlem Globetrotters, mysteriously went missing over the weekend while traveling from his mother’s home in Alhambra, Calif. to see his girlfriend in Seattle, Wash. Family members and authorities announced Monday that they are seeking the public’s help in locating Harris.

According to a release from the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office, Harris left his mother’s house at about 1 a.m. on Friday and his car was located three days later at a Yolo County park. Harris’ mother, Margaret Fernandez, said she last spoke to him around 9:30 a.m. Friday when he said he was driving through the Sacramento area.

“Right now, I can’t even tell you what I’m feeling … because I never thought this could happen to me,” Fernandez told KTLA on Monday.

Deputies have searched for any sign of Harris by ground and by air. The battery in his black Nissan sedan was reportedly dead and a backpack with jumper cables and Harris’ cell phone was located not far from his vehicle. Harris’ girlfriend, Jennifer Song, told police she had not spoken with him since he left her a message at 10:45 a.m. on Friday.

“He’s a very loving … charismatic, gentle giant,” Song told KTLA of the 6-foot-9, 300-pound Harris.

Anyone who may have any information about Harris was asked to call 530-668-5280.
