Jennie Finch blew fastballs by Adrian Peterson (GIF)

Adrian Peterson is a tremendous competitor, but even NFL superstars have to be careful what they wish for sometimes. During Sunday’s All-Star Legends and Celebrity Softball Game, Peterson challenged softball star Jennie Finch to throw the whole slow-pitch softball thing out the window and bring the heat.

Finch threw Peterson three straight fastballs during his second at-bat of the game. His reaction was priceless:

After whiffing on the first, AP got credit for fouling off the next two. It’s unclear if he actually made contact, as he later said “it’s possible” and Finch jokingly replied that he’s “full of it.”

“I said, ‘Don’t take it easy on me. I want you to come with a fastball,'” Peterson explained, via ESPN.com. “She said, ‘What else?’ I said, ‘Changeup.’ Initially, I thought she was going to continue to throw them underhand, but she saw I was serious.”

Peterson also said he probably hasn’t swung a bat in 15 years, and it showed. Finch is a master of her trade. We all know what Peterson can do on the gridiron, but he’s clearly no match for Jennie.

It’s a shame some network dolts chose to only skim over this at-bat rather than showing one of the only interesting moments.

Not to get all technical on you (OK, yes, to get get technical on you), those looked like riseballs from Finch, which are even tougher than straight fastballs!
