UCLA shooting: Photos, video show the frightening scene
A shooting on the UCLA campus Wednesday morning has left two dead in what is said to be a murder-suicide.
UCLA students received an emergency alert around 10:00 a.m. informing them of a shooting at Engineering 4, a building on the south portion of the campus. The shooting was described as taking place in a small office in the Engineering 4 building. Those on campus began barricading themselves inside their shelters to try to ensure their safety.
Reports have described the shooter as a white male, about six feet tall. The Daily Bruin, the campus student newspaper, says the shooter was wearing black pants and a black jacket. A suicide note was found. The person who committed suicide died of a gunshot wound.
Multiple police and other law enforcement agency members swarmed campus, which was quickly put on lockdown.

Shortly after noon, the campus was declared safe.
One of LBS’ writers, Darryn Albert, is a student at UCLA. He was safely in his off-campus apartment during the time of the shooting.
The UCLA campus is a place of learning, teaching, studying, bonding and education. I never once felt anything other than complete security and comfort being on the campus. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to have that violated.
UCLA is on the quarter system, so finals are scheduled for June 6-10. Many students were just finishing their quarter and even preparing to graduate.
