This article is not about Sports, it is about life.

I do plan on writing a piece of sports journalism for Larry before too long, but I’m waiting for something to strike me. You will like this, though. I was walking to class today and I was hung-over and kind of out of it when suddenly I was struck with thoughts and they kept coming Boom! Boom! Boom! So I pulled out a piece of scratch paper and started scribbling furiously. This is what ensued:

  • The sheer complexity of this world, everything, the ocean, a woman’s smile can only be described as brilliant.
  • Fall in love with something or someone. I do it everyday. It’s great.
  • Do not waste words. That is one of the few ways people have to connect with one another and human interaction, love is the meaning of life. I know this because all else pales in comparison.
  • Human beings are inherently imperfect. Understand that and you will understand your fellow man.
  • Waste is quite possibly the most selfish thing a person can do aside from excessive greed and they are one and the same.
  • Seek personal moderation, whatever that means to you.
  • Never lie to yourself.
  • Never, never apologize for who you are.
  • Believe in yourself.
  • Do not be afraid. Of anything. It is the greatest hindrance a person can experience. We are only human and it is natural to fear for your life.
  • Human life is the most valuable thing on this earth. I would not sacrifice mine for all the gold in the world nor should anyone else be expected to.
  • Find meaning somewhere, anywhere and never let go.
  • Do whatever you want in life as long as it does not impede on another’s ability to do the same.
  • Knowledge is invaluable but like anything, it can be a source of addiction and over-importance.
  • I don’t (or shouldn’t) give one shit what you think of me but I do value you as a human being.
  • Self-control is the most important ability one can have.
  • Life is beautiful, never forget that.

Surely, one can add to this list ad infinitum, I encourage it. These were just the thoughts that hit me. I came home, shared my thoughts with my friends and have felt fantastic all day.

One friend reminded me of Baz Luhrmann’s Everybody’s Free (To Wear Sunscreen). The parallels are there and hearing that again today, I was only reminded how great a piece of writing that is. Watch it, you will feel uplifted.

Go live, love and watch some baseball.
