Harry Douglas, Drew Davis fantasy players to pick up after Julio Jones injury

Harry-Douglas-FalconsWhile we are certainly hoping for the best for Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones and his injured foot, it appears likely that the former Alabama star is going to miss the remainder of the 2013 season. Fellow wide receiver Roddy White has been dealing with a high ankle sprain all season and suffered a hamstring injury in Monday night’s loss to the New York Jets. So who is left for Matt Ryan to throw to?

If Jones is done for the year and White is forced to miss time, the Falcons will likely become dependent on the run for the rest of the season. However, it should be noted that Steven Jackson also remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, so the running back position is thin as well. Behind Jones and White, the next two receivers on Atlanta’s depth chart are Harry Douglas and Drew Davis.

Douglas, a fifth-year receiver out of Louisville, is the more experienced option. He has flashed signs of playmaking ability over the years, although he has just 16 receptions for 219 yards in five games this season. He has regressed quite a bit since his six catches for 93 yards in Week 1.

Davis, on the other hand, is in his second season and only has four career catches. Fantasy owners who are desperate for receiver help can consider adding him based strictly on the potential for workload, though he is not likely to make any type of consistent contribution.

The best bet for production is Douglas. He should see a good amount of targets even if White plays, and he would be all the Falcons really have at receiver if White misses time. This is not a good situation by any means, but Douglas holds the most value from a fantasy standpoint.
