Lesnar, who hardly ever leaves his home, showed up ringside for the main event between Junior dos Santos and Frank Mir. His attendance prompted several inquiries from reporters at the postfight press conference about a possible comeback. UFC boss Dana White confirmed that Lesnar is interested in a comeback.

While Dana White was non-committal with his responses to questions, you could see he was open to having Lesnar back in the UFC. It’s easy to understand why; Lesnar is one of the top heavyweights in the world, and the UFC’s biggest pay-per-view draw.

Lesnar has been wrestling for the WWE since saying he was retiring from MMA after losing to Alistair Overeem at UFC 141 last December. Fighters frequently say one thing after they just got their heads beat in, but many of them tend to feel an itch to return to the sport several months later. It looks like that may have happened with Lesnar.

Vanderbilt’s baseball team did something on Saturday that you don’t see very often: They successfully executed a triple steal.

Facing Florida in the SEC Baseball Tournament, the Commodores had bases loaded in the top of the 9th when they sent all three runners. Anthony Gomez, who had already stolen second and third that inning, took a walking lead and stole home on an 0-1 pitch. Both runners behind him also stole their bases safely.

It’s almost like Brighthouse Sports Network knew what was coming, because they had a camera on all three runners as the steals were taking place:

Vandy had six stolen bases that inning, so maybe that’s why Brighthouse was focusing on them. The triple steal made it 6-4, and then Will Cooper, who was batting when the triple steal took place, delivered a two-run single to make it 8-4. Vandy won 8-6 and advanced to the championship game.

Michigan football recruit Logan Tuley-Tillman affirmed his commitment to the school in the most convincing way possible. The offensive lineman lit a recruiting letter from Ohio State on fire and shared a picture of it on Twitter Saturday morning.

Tuley-Tillman, a 6’7″, 321-pound lineman from Manual High School in Peoria (Ill.), committed to play for Michigan in February. He’ll be a member of their 2013 incoming recruiting class.

You might be wondering why Ohio State continued to recruit him if he had already committed to Michigan, but as we learned over the past several months, that doesn’t stop Urban Meyer.

I’m guessing Tuley-Tillman burnt it because he was offended they misspelled his hometown on the letter. That sort of thing doesn’t sit well with recruits.

Sasha Andrade of WPLG, an ABC affiliate in Miami, mistakenly called the 76ers the 69ers. We’re not sure where she got “69ers” out of 76ers, but we’re guessing it was either some sort of Freudian slip, or she got them confused with the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers.

The good news for Andrade is that the Celtics won Game 7 to eliminate the 76ers, meaning she won’t have to worry about repeating the mistake.

She shouldn’t feel too badly — we’ve seen much worse.

His agent also issued the following statement:

“Matt Forte is among the most, if not the most, durable, all-purpose running back in the NFL. The 2011 season was the first season of his career that he missed any games. Had the Bears been playoff contenders, he could have returned for the balance of the season. To question his durability at this stage in his career is absurd.”

The Chicago Tribune reported earlier in the day that the Bears are reluctant to sign Forte to a contract extension because of concerns that his problematic knees may become arthritic.

Forte tore the posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in 2006, and sprained the MCL in the same knee in 2009. Last year, he missed the final four games of the season with a sprained MCL in his right knee.

Forte expressed frustration with the Bears all last season over the two sides’ inability to agree on a new deal. He was even more upset in March when the team signed running back Michael Bush.

The team assigned a franchise tag to Forte, which only means they would be committed to him for one season. Given the short amount of time running backs last in the NFL, it’s quite understandable why Forte is frustrated with the situation.

The stunt drew laughs and cheers from the crowd but not from the uptight and oppressive administrators at Fort Myers (Fla.) Catholic, who punished Shriner by briefly withholding his diploma and making him clean the school’s auditorium. (It should come as no surprise Shriner went to a private school.)

When Tim Tebow got wind of Shriner’s renegade move, his reaction was evident: Free Chuck.

“I don’t think his diploma should be withheld,” Tebow told the New York Daily News this week. “I think it was probably something a lot of people laughed at. I don’t know that it was necessarily appropriate, but I definitely think he should be able to graduate.”

Tebow should have also used the opportunity to remind you Tebowing will be in Madden ’13. We can’t confirm whether Fort Myers Catholic is looking for ways to have the game banned.

According to an Iowa City police criminal complaint, as officers were observing the City High boys’ soccer game at Longfellow Elementary School Wednesday evening, they witnessed a man run onto the field and attempt to pull his son out of the game.

Doyle told police that he wanted to remove his son because of bad grades, even though the school and the boy’s mom said his grades were good enough to continue playing on the team.

It’s nice he cares about his son’s academics, but he displayed a total lack of parental tact. He admitted that he knew he wasn’t allowed to go on the field and that he let his temper “get the best of him.”

Police charged Doyle with trespassing, a simple misdemeanor, while his son has been charged with having a crazy dad. At least his actions were safer than the last crazy soccer dad.

With the Kings in the Stanley Cup Finals, a lot of people in the L.A. region who haven’t a clue about hockey or the Kings are jumping on the bandwagon (driven by Enter Your Favorite Hollywood Star Here).

And while Conan O’Brien isn’t jumping on the Kings bandwagon per se, he showed he obviously has no grasp on anything NHL- or Kings-related when he tried to make a topical joke about the team in this tweet sent Friday:

The @LAKings are playing the @PhoenixCoyotes? I wonder which city that shouldn’t have a hockey team will win.

— Conan O’Brien (@ConanOBrien) May 25, 2012

Not bad, Conan — if it was sent a week earlier. The Kings, of course, disposed of the Coyotes on Tuesday, making Conan’s tweet outdated and useless. Knowing Conan, he’ll probably joke that an intern will get fired for letting him send that tweet. If Twitter was fair game for Conan’s Fan Corrections segment, the tweet would probably be the subject of a hefty portion of viewer submissions.

The Kings’ Twitter account, which has been on a roll these playoffs, was none too amused by O’Brien’s failed attempt at a joke and fired back with a joke of its own:

@conanobrien Clearly, that joke wasn’t meant for prime time.

— LA Kings (@LAKings) May 25, 2012

Not to be outdone, Bailey, the Kings’ mascot, took his own dig at Conan:

. @conanobrien And the joke wasn’t funny …The last time a ginger tried to get one over on the kings he was shipped back to Vancouver

— Bailey LA Kings (@BaileyLAKings) May 25, 2012

He’s referencing Dustin Brown’s punishing blow on Henrik Sedin in the first round, a hit that would probably snap the gawky O’Brien in half. Conan, realizing his error, then attempted to pick up the pieces by sending out this:

PS – I’m watching this @LAKings game on my DVR. No spoilers, please.

— Conan O’Brien (@ConanOBrien) May 25, 2012

And then a few hours later it appeared somebody did some digging on Wikipedia.

@LAKings, don’t doubt that I’m up to date on your team. In fact, I know Marcel Dionne and Rogie Vachon will take you all the way this year.

— Conan O’Brien (@ConanOBrien) May 25, 2012

OK, decent job with that one. Added points for the research. But we hope Conan’s learned a couple lessons from this debacle: Don’t mess with the L.A. Kings on social media, and leave the bad jokes to Jay Leno.

In order to conquer the amazing feat, you have to bowl 12 straight strikes. Head down to the local bowling alley in your spare time and try to roll three in a row and let us know how it turns out. Then try doing it from a wheelchair. If you pull it off, Shawn Beam has nothing on you.

According to KDFW in Dallas-Fort Worth, Beam recently became the only known person in a wheelchair to bowl a perfect game. Born with a pinched nerve in his neck, Beam has been confined to a wheelchair his entire life. He decided bowling was a sport that interested him during his teenage years and has been hitting the lanes for about 22 years now. When he rolled 10 straight strikes last Friday, Beam said everyone at Cityview Lanes began to gather around.

“That’s when you know everybody noticed,” he said. “The whole place stops and everybody gathers behind you.”

On an average night, Beam said, he will roll about seven or eight strikes in a row. Knowing Shawn’s personal record is 11 straight strikes, his best friend rushed over to get a closer look. Then Beam hit lucky No. 12 and finished off his perfect score of 300.

“When I threw the last shot I felt like I did everything right. I felt like I did everything the same way I did the other 11,” he said. “When they all fell, man the feeling is just amazing.”

The U.S. Bowling Congress has certified Beam’s score, and the American Wheelchair Bowling Association confirmed that Beam is the first bowler in a wheelchair to ever roll a perfect game. Most of all, Beam hopes he can be an inspiration for others who find themselves confined to a wheelchair. When you accomplish something like that, it’s impossible for others in your position not to take note.

With the Red Sox having floated around a .500 record the entire season and yet to climb into the A.L. East race, Boston fans have been patiently waiting for a little excitement in their lives. Those who were in attendance at Fenway Park Friday night to watch the Red Sox take on the Rays got exactly that, as the division rivals cleared their benches in the ninth inning of Tampa’s 7-4 victory.

The beef started when Boston reliever Franklin Morales hit Rays DH Luke Scott with a pitch, after he had thrown behind him the pitch before. It seemed quite obvious that Morales was intentionally throwing at Scott considering his control was fine and he retired the first two batters of the inning. The benches cleared without any major fights breaking out, and after the game Joe Maddon was extremely frustrated with the way Boston handled the situation.

“Trust me, it’s not us (who initiated the altercation),” Maddon said according to the Boston Globe. “I have no idea on their side, but just watching the video, the people that were incensed, obviously they’re the ones that were probably behind the effort, the really weak, cowardly effort on their part.

“Did I say that strongly enough? Did I make my point?”

Dustin Pedroia was hit by a pitch earlier in the game, so it’s possible Morales was responding to that. Or, as Bobby Valentine reminded reporters, Scott may been targeted because of the derogatory comments he made about Red Sox fans and their ballpark over the offseason.

“The guy getting hit?” Valentine said. “Maybe it was the Ghost of Fenway Past remembering that he bad-mouthed all our fans and stadium.”

For his part, Scott handled himself well after the game. In fact, he basically admitted that he had it coming.

“I’ll respond this way: I respect every team and every player that I play against,” Scott said. “And from what I know about Morales, I know that he’s a pretty good guy. It’s obvious where it came from, and at the end of the day, you reap what you sow.”

Maddon concluded his mini-rant by adding that the Rays would never initiate that type of thing, but that they will ”respond to others that do attempt to do it to us.” Earlier this season, Adrian Gonzalez was hit at Tropicana Field and the Red Sox responded by hitting Scott then as well. In other words, this thing is likely just getting started.
