49ers indicate they could release Reuben Foster
Reuben Foster is facing roughly 11 years in prison if he is convicted of the charges that were formally brought against him on Thursday, and his days with the San Francisco 49ers could be numbered.
After the District Attorney’s Office in Santa Clara announced that Foster is facing felony charges for allegedly beating a 28-year-old woman and rupturing her ear drum, the Niners said in a statement that Foster’s “place in our organization is under great scrutiny.”

Foster’s domestic violence charges steam from an incident back in February. That was the second time in a month he had been arrested, as he was also detained on Jan. 12 in Alabama and charged with second-degree marijuana possession.
The 49ers have been lenient with Foster in the wake of all of his off-field trouble, but team CEO Jed York issued somewhat of a warning to the former Alabama star earlier in the offseason. Given the nature of the allegations, Foster will almost certainly be suspended by the NFL whether he is convicted or not.
