Report: 49ers get permission to interview Tom Coughlin
Tom Coughlin definitely isn’t retiring. In fact, he reportedly had a job interview with one team on Monday and might be sitting down for a meeting with another team in the very near future.
The San Francisco 49ers have asked for and received permission to speak with the former Giants coach, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport:
The #49ers have requested and received permission to speak with former #Giants coach Tom Coughlin, source said. He talks to #Eagles tonight.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Eagles have confirmed they completed their interview with Coughlin Monday afternoon.
Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson was reportedly the heavy favorite in San Francisco, but it seems as though they’d be remiss to not at least speak to a coach with a resume like Coughlin’s. He is, after all, a two-time Super Bowl winner who is beloved by his players. It’s unclear, however, just how serious a candidate he is for both the Philadelphia and San Francisco openings.
