49ers reportedly prepared to keep Colin Kaepernick if no trade happens

Colin Kaepernick hat backwards

The San Francisco 49ers are reportedly not heavily motivated to trade Colin Kaepernick and are prepared to keep him if their asking price is not met.

Not only that, but according to NFL Media’s Mike Silver, the Niners are content to pay Kaepernick the full $12 million owed him if he’s on the roster on April 1, feeling that it’s a reasonable price for a quarterback who would have a legitimate shot at winning his starting job back.

Silver confirmed that the Denver Broncos, New York Jets, and Cleveland Browns have all had dialogue with the Broncos about the quarterback. The Niners are requesting a second round pick in exchange for Kaepernick. The Broncos have had productive talks with Kaepernick’s agents about a contract restructure, but have not met San Francisco’s asking price. Cleveland, on the other hand, has a general agreement with the Niners but has not made progress toward a contract restructure, which they would reportedly insist on to make the trade.

It still seems more likely than not that Kaepernick will be moved, especially given that his agents have asked for a trade.
