Aaron Hernandez jurors were ‘shocked’ by murder scene admission

Aaron HernandezThe jurors that rendered a guilty verdict in the Aaron Hernandez murder trial say that a controversial defense strategy by the former Patriots tight end’s attorneys backfired.

According to The Boston Globe, the jurors said Wednesday that they were surprised Hernandez’s defense team acknowledged the former player was present at the time of Odin Lloyd’s murder.

“We were all shocked by that,” one juror said according to The Globe.

The Globe also says many other jurors nodded in agreement to express shock at the defense’s admission.

Last week our Steve DelVecchio wrote about this surprising move by the defense team during closing arguments. Hernandez’s attorneys apparently felt there was too much circumstantial evidence placing their client at the scene of the crime, so they admitted to that while trying to say one of the other two men pulled the actual trigger. The jury clearly didn’t buy that argument as they found Hernandez guilty.
