Aaron Rodgers’ calf injury not believed to be serious

Aaron Rodgers

The Green Bay Packers are still clinging to playoff hopes in the NFC after beating the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, but the health of Aaron Rodgers could create an obstacle going forward.

Fortunately, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network is reporting that the calf injury Rodgers suffered early on Sunday is not believed to be serious.

Rodgers injured his calf two seasons ago and was still able to play. While he suffered the injury late in the season, the veteran went on to lead Green Bay to a playoff win over the Dallas Cowboys and a close loss to the Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game.

If the latest calf injury is less serious than 2014, Rodgers won’t be in danger of missing any time. It will also help if he can avoid falling victim to another cheap shot from this guy in the final week of the season.

The 7-6 Packers are two games behind the Detroit Lions in the NFC North. With Matthew Stafford having suffered a potentially serious hand injury on Sunday, Green Bay’s best chance at making the playoffs may be winning the division.
