Report: Aaron Rodgers could resume throwing in six weeks

Aaron Rodgers

The Green Bay Packers are hoping that Aaron Rodgers can return from his broken collarbone late in the regular season, and it sounds like there is a decent chance of that happening.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that doctors believe Rodgers can resume throwing in six weeks, which would be the first step toward the quarterback making a return.

For what it’s worth, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network was told that the Packers do not expect Rodgers to play for them again this season and are preparing as if Brett Hundley will get every “meaningful start” for the rest of the season.

Rodgers has been placed on injured reserve, meaning the earliest he could return is Week 15. If Hundley is unable to keep the Packers in the playoff hunt, there will be no sense in Rodgers playing again in 2017, anyway.

In reality, Green Bay will probably play it by ear. There’s no way of knowing exactly how Rodgers will heal, though there have been some indications that the team is optimistic.
