Undrafted Adam Muema quits football, does not want to be slave to coaches

Adam MuemaOutside of the viewing area for the Mountain West Conference, Adam Muema may not have been familiar to many. As a junior, he rushed for 1,244 yards and 15 touchdowns for the San Diego State Aztecs.

Muema became more of household name after leaving the NFL Combine in February, declaring God told him to do so. Then, Muema turned up missing, only to surface four days later still wearing his combine clothes.

Expected to be a late-round pick, Muema did not hear his named called during last weekend’s NFL Draft. As it turns out, that might not have been the worst thing. Apparently, Muema has decided to give boxing or ultimate fighting a try and is finished with football.

“I don’t like being a slave to money or coaches,” Muema said Tuesday via ESPN. “I prefer an individual sport.”

This can be taken a lot of different ways, but the prevailing one is that Muema definitely walks to the beat of his own drum.

Prior to the draft, Muema was dropped by agent Rob London, who wanted to make sure Muema has an adequate support system to deal with any and all situations away from football.

Hopefully Adam Muema can find happiness away from the helmet and pads.
