Adam Schefter: Peyton Manning wants to keep playing

Peyton Manning

Peyton Manning has yet to make an announcement about whether he will keep playing in 2016, and that could be because he is still trying to decide.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Manning wants to play another season.

“He’d like to keep playing. In a perfect world, he’d like to keep playing,” Schefter told Mike and Mike in the Morning on Tuesday. “The question is, who is going to give him an opportunity? It’s tough to identify that team right now that’s going to sign him to the deal that makes it worthwhile for him.

“Does he want to move to a different city? I think everybody understands and expects that he’s not going to be back in Denver.”

The Broncos are trying their best to not embarrass Manning, and they would prefer if he retired so they would not have to release him. All indications have been that Denver does not want Manning back in 2016 either way.

Schefter said it is unlikely that the Houston Texans or Los Angeles Rams — a team said to have interest — would sign Manning. He added that Manning has received multiple offers for television jobs and NFL front office positions, but it seems like the 39-year-old is not ready for the next chapter just yet. The comments his agent made this week also mesh with that.

With Manning facing questions from a sexual assault lawsuit and performance-enhancing drug allegations involving his wife, it’s somewhat surprising that he isn’t content to call it a career after winning his second Super Bowl.
