Adam Vinatieri calls out ex-GM Ryan Grigson after re-signing with Colts
The veteran kicker, who just signed a one-year deal to remain with the Colts, said on Thursday per Zak Keefer of the Indianapolis Star that the negotiation process with current GM Chris Ballard was “substantially easier” than it was with Grigson a few years ago. Vinatieri also revealed it was a “long, heated negotiation” with Grigson, who did not want to give him a two-year deal.
Vinatieri just turned 45 years old and will be entering his 23rd NFL season. But his numbers (29-for-34 on field goals and 22-for-24 on extra points in 2017) still speak for themselves. This will also be Year 13 for him in Indy.
Meanwhile, Grigson, who served as Colts GM from 2012 until his firing before the 2017 season, was not particularly well-respected during his time there. Vinatieri is not even the first Colts kicking specialist to beef with him.
