Adrian Peterson will undergo knee surgery, could be out for season
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is planning to undergo knee surgery this week, and he will likely need multiple weeks to recover.
Peterson told ESPN’s Josina Anderson that he has opted to have surgery and is optimistic it will help his torn meniscus fully heal. However, the All-Pro could miss anywhere from multiple games to the remainder of the season.
Clearly, #Vikings RB Adrian Peterson, with his plans for surgery Thursday to repair it as he stated to me, will be missing multiple games.

Peterson has what is known as "bucket handle tear." I'm told that's a minm of 3-4 months out & up 6months usually. Again Peterson has faith.

To be clear, my timeline says when you get a repair of the meniscus, that is **usually** 3-4 months minimum, and can be **up to 6 months.

Peterson hurt his right knee after his leg twisted underneath him during Sunday night’s win over the Green Bay Packers. You can see a video of the play here.
While the Vikings dodged a bullet with Peterson not suffering a torn ACL, it remains to be seen how long the 31-year-old will need to recover from surgery. We would never rule out a quick comeback when it comes to A.P.
