Adrian Peterson reportedly has trade list of five teams, would restructure contract

Adrian Peterson

Adrian Peterson has a list of five teams to whom he would like to be traded, and he would be willing to renegotiate his contract if need be, according to a report.

Yahoo’s Charles Robinson reported Tuesday that the Cowboys, Cardinals, Chargers, Colts, and Buccaneers are on Peterson’s list of preferred destinations. He says Peterson would consider restructuring his contract if it becomes necessary.

Peterson’s father, Nelson, told Robinson that Peterson’s future will be determined by a “business decision” his son makes. Peterson reportedly is also considering a return to the Vikings, who owe him $12.75 million next season.

Though Peterson has expressed an interest in playing for a new team and getting a fresh start because he feels some within the Vikings organization did not support him during his legal controversy, a return to the Vikings is not out of the cards.

“Adrian has never requested a trade and has never said he wouldn’t return to the Vikings,” Nelson Peterson told Yahoo.

However, Nelson also pointed out that even if the Vikings were open to trading Peterson, they might not say so publicly in order to keep the running back’s trade value high. Nelson Peterson previously told another media outlet that the Cardinals, Cowboys and Colts all have interest in his son.
