Adrian Peterson eyeing Week 11 return

Adrian-Peterson-court

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is hoping to play football again this season. According to his attorney Rusty Hardin, Peterson wants to be back for his team’s next game.

On Wednesday, Hardin told PFT Live that Peterson’s goal is to return for Minnesota’s Week 11 game against the Chicago Bears. AP is now at the mercy of the NFL.

“It takes only an airplane trip to do it,” Hardin said. “I’m hoping that can be done quickly and I’m hoping the NFL is receptive to it and agrees to it and get this issue off the front page, because it’s time for him to go back and … play football.”

Peterson pleaded no contest on Tuesday to a lesser charge than the felony child abuse charge he was facing. As a result, he will avoid jail time. From a football standpoint, he has already been suspended for eight games. It’s unclear if the NFL will count his time on the Commissioner’s Exempt List as part of an official suspension.

According to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports, the NFL rejected Peterson’s attempt for immediate reinstatement following his plea agreement on Tuesday. Peterson’s camp wanted, at the very least, instructions from the NFL on what the 29-year-old needs to do to get back on the field. However, the NFL refused to engage in any discussions regarding a settlement.
