AJ Green could reportedly miss rest of season with hamstring injury

AJ Green hamstring

A.J. Green suffered a serious hamstring injury in Sunday’s loss to the Buffalo Bills, and there is a possibility it will keep the star wide receiver out for the remainder of the season.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Green will miss multiple weeks and there is a “real chance” he may not play again in 2016. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis confirmed after the game that Green suffered a hamstring injury.

“I don’t know when he can be back, but he has a hamstring injury, I can tell you that,” Lewis said.

Green will undergo an MRI on Monday.

The injury occurred when Green was hit by Bills defensive back Stephon Gilmore on an incomplete pass in the first quarter Sunday. You can see a video of the play here. Reports indicate Green’s hamstring is torn.

With the loss to Buffalo, the Bengals fell to 3-6-1 on the season. It goes without saying that losing Green would make their chances of reaching the playoffs even more of a long shot.
